I've had this folky-swallow design in my mind for a long time, but it's taken a while for a it to take shape. I normally don't feel like I am able to capture animals very well in my work so I've put off trying, but when I finally sat down to draw, the first one I sketched felt just right! I reclaimed silver scrap metal to make these birds. So that means I melted down a bunch of small silver bits into one big chunk and then rolled it out into a sheet of metal that I then sawed out these swallows. It's a labor intensive process, but it's also really rewarding!
